OpenLink.NZ began as a place to collect and share information relating to Blockchain & CryptoCurrency in New Zealand. While we have previously shared resources of the way things are, today I would like to share a couple of resources from teams around New Zealand focused on the way things should be.
A self-organising group under the name of Voice for Crypto NZ has prepared a submission for the NZ Governments Tax Working Group. It calls for the removal of GST or cryptocurrency transactions, the introduction of “Like-Kind” exchange treatment when exchanging between crypto tokens and a portfolio based approach for traders and investors.

EHF – New Zealand: Unlocking Blockchain's Potential (Dec 2017)
I also came across a document called published by a working group formed from the Edmund Hillary Fellowship. The contributors include Fred Ehrsam, one of the founders of Coinbase, and members of several blockchain projects based in NZ. They share a vision for the future, both globally and locally, with a view to make New Zealand a global centre of excellence for blockchain. It also lays out a classification methodology for types of crypto tokens.
There are thousands of people publishing Blockchain content online but OpenLink.NZ is primarily focused on content that is relavent to New Zealand and useful to members of our community. That said if you'd like to hear more about anything in particular within the Blockchain space then get in touch.
And if you are working on, or thinking of launching, a blockchain focused project in New Zealand, I'd love to hear from you. Whether you're conducting research or actively trading, there may be opportunities for future collaboration towards building a better blockchain hub in New Zealand.
